The Peopleโs Emergency Briefing
A special community screening of The Peopleโs Emergency Briefing is set to take place in Overton, bringing residents together to explore what is happening with the climate and nature, and what it could mean for everyday life in the UK.
The 50-minute film brings together nine leading UK scientists and experts to present the latest evidence and explain how environmental changes could affect issues including extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living.
Based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, which was featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times, the film includes appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and a range of voices from across the UK.
Following the screening, there will be an open discussion looking at what the issues raised in the film could mean for the local community and what can be done at a local level.
Organisers have invited local MP Kit Malthouse to attend the event and are hopeful that he will join local residents for the discussion.
The screening will take place at St Mary's Hall on Wednesday 23 September, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
Admission is free, although places are limited and advance booking is required. The screening is not recommended for anyone under the age of 16 because of the impact of the content.
Organisers are also asking anyone who books a ticket but later finds they cannot attend to let them know, so their place can be offered to someone else.
Everyone is welcome to attend, with residents encouraged to bring along friends, neighbours or family members for what organisers hope will be an informative and thought-provoking evening.
